We
wish to plead our own cause. Too long have others
spoken for us . . . Our vices and degradation are
ever arrayed against us, but our virtues are passed
by unnoticed.

The
history of Afrika and Afrikan people did not begin with
their enslavement and contributions of Afrika have impacted
the world. But who will tell the truth of her story? Gaskiya’s
Compound!
Gaskiya
is an Hausa term whose broad meaning conveys truth, honesty,
sincerity, faith, fairness and reliability. Within Gaskiya’s
compound, Afrika’s history, her culture, and her
lessons will be shared.
At
Gaskiya’s Compound we believe that our youth are
the most valuable assets we possess as people. We also
believe that it is our collective responsibility to empower
them with knowledge and skills that are "wholistic",
thereby instilling within them a sense of self-respect
and pride. This newfound knowledge prepares them for their
personal journey of discovery and their ultimate acceptance
of their personal Nia (purpose) within this global society.
Here
within our Compound, the arts of Afrika provide a means
for the preservation and transference of the wisdom, knowledge
and history of a continent…a people…a culture.
Through our programs and our products we shall tell the
story of Afrika, her joys, her sorrows, her triumphs and
her defeats. It is our desire to dispel fiction and convey
the facts of Afrika’s history through her own eyes.
We welcome you to our compound for here we are prepared
to share our history, art, proverbs, languages, foods,
stories, songs and dance. So welcome to Gaskiya’s
Compound where the truth of Afrika lives on.
